The Santiago Elite (DYN-6209-02) is Dynamic's most popular 2-person model. More heater coverage than the Barcelona, ultra-low EMF under 3 mG, and still 120V plug-in. The full-spectrum version (DYN-6209-03 FS) adds near-infrared emitters for an additional $500. Here is how both compare - and when each is the right choice.
The Santiago Elite is the logical step up from the Barcelona. A genuine 2-person cabinet (46 x 40 inches exterior vs. Barcelona's 39 x 36), 7 carbon PureTech panels instead of 6, and ultra-low EMF under 3 mG instead of the Barcelona's 5-10 mG at panel proximity. It still runs on 120V/15A - no electrician required. At $2,499-$2,759, it is a meaningful investment but a defensible one for buyers planning regular shared use.
The full-spectrum version (DYN-6209-03 FS, ~$3,259) adds near-infrared emitters to the standard far-infrared panel array. For buyers who prioritize skin and collagen goals alongside the cardiovascular and relaxation benefits of far infrared, the FS model is worth the extra $500. For buyers focused on sweating, relaxation, and muscle recovery, the far-infrared-only Elite delivers the same core result at lower cost.
Infrared light is divided into three bands by wavelength. Near infrared (0.76-1.4 microns) is absorbed primarily at the skin surface and is associated with fibroblast activation, collagen synthesis, and wound healing research. Mid infrared (1.4-3 microns) penetrates deeper into soft tissue. Far infrared (5.6-1000 microns) is what all carbon-panel saunas produce - deep tissue heat, cardiovascular response, and sweat.
The Santiago FS (DYN-6209-03) adds two near-infrared PureTech emitters to the standard 5-panel far-infrared array. The practical difference over the Elite: meaningful for buyers with skin, collagen, or surface tissue goals. Largely redundant for buyers focused on cardiovascular benefit, pain relief, or sweat-based relaxation - far infrared alone is sufficient for those goals.
Both the Elite and FS share identical cabinet dimensions (46 x 40 x 75 in exterior), the same 120V/15A power requirement, and the same hemlock construction. The FS costs approximately $500 more. If you are uncertain, the Elite is the safer choice; you are not giving up meaningfully on heat performance.
Seven carbon panels - two on the rear wall, two on each side wall, and one under the bench - provide more directional coverage than the Barcelona's 6-panel back-and-front layout. Both side walls contribute heat, which means you receive IR energy from left, right, and behind simultaneously rather than just front-to-back. The under-bench panel adds foot and lower-leg coverage.
From cold start, bench temperature reaches 140°F (60°C) in approximately 16 minutes. The 2-person bench is a genuine 2-person seat - not cramped for two average-size adults. Interior dimensions are 42 x 36 x 68 inches.
The price gap is roughly $1,700-$1,800. For that difference you get: a second seat, one additional carbon panel, better EMF performance (ultra-low under 3 mG at bench vs. the Barcelona's 5-10 mG at panel proximity), and a more substantial cabinet.
For solo users who will never use the second seat, the Barcelona remains the better value. For couples or households with two users, the Santiago pays back the premium in usability within months. For buyers with $2,500-$3,000 and a long-term commitment to daily use, the Santiago is the better infrastructure investment.
Both models are 120V plug-in. Neither requires an electrician. That is the key differentiator from the premium Clearlight and Sunlighten lines, which often require 240V/20A or 240V/30A dedicated circuits.
The Clearlight Sanctuary 2 (True Wave II heaters, western red cedar, lifetime warranty) costs approximately $5,000-$6,000. EMF is under 0.3 mG - significantly lower than the Santiago's under-3 mG. Cedar is more durable, harder, and naturally antimicrobial vs. hemlock. The warranty is incomparable (lifetime vs. 1 year).
For buyers who will use the sauna daily for a decade, Clearlight is the correct long-term investment. For buyers who want to experience infrared sauna ownership before committing $5,000+, or whose budget ceiling is $3,000, the Santiago Elite is the accessible, functional choice with no meaningful compromise in core heat performance.
