How we research, write, and update the guides and reviews on this site.

Last updated: June 28, 2026

Our goal

InfraredSaunaSpot exists to give clear, honest answers about infrared saunas: what the research supports, what it does not, and how to use a sauna well. We aim to be more specific and more honest than the marketing that dominates this category.

How we research

For health claims, we go to the primary literature: peer-reviewed studies, cohort data, and clinical reviews. We name the study and the year so you can check the source. We distinguish strong evidence from preliminary or small-sample findings rather than treating every claim as settled.

For products, we work from manufacturer specifications, owner feedback, heater type and EMF data, warranty terms, and direct comparison against competing models in the same category.

Evidence ratings

Where we summarize a health benefit, we rate the strength of the evidence honestly. Cardiovascular benefit, for example, rests on large cohort data and is rated strongly. Detox and weight-loss claims rest on weaker evidence and are labeled as such. We would rather tell you a benefit is uncertain than overstate it.

Corrections and updates

Research changes and products get discontinued or revised. We update articles when better evidence appears or when a recommendation no longer holds. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it.

Independence

We earn affiliate commissions, explained in full on our affiliate disclosure page. Commissions never determine our ratings or conclusions. We are not paid by manufacturers to publish favorable reviews.

Not medical advice

Our content is educational, not medical advice. Infrared sauna use has real contraindications. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting, particularly if you are pregnant, manage a heart condition, or take medication affecting heat tolerance or blood pressure.
